скачать PDFLouis Lerambert (1630 – 1670)
Son of Simon Lerambert, guardian of the King’s marble quarries, Louis first apprenticed under Simon Vouet, then under the sculptor Jacques Sarrazin. Admitted to the Royal academy in 1663 he was nominated professor in 1665.
He is part of the first generation of sculptors to work in Versailles and a few of his pieces are still on the grounds: his most famous piece is a pair of sphinxes ridden by Cupids, based on a model by Jacques Sarrazin; another in the Allée d’eau, is a bronze group of three children dancing.
